I have to say that the weather where I live is absolutely
beautiful! Just about broke 75 degrees today and everything about today was
just gorgeous. So it’s safe to say that I’ve spent the majority of my day
outside enjoying this rare day of sunshine. Heck, I might even be a little tan!
Now that’s really something!
I realize that it’s
also been awhile, actually a whole month since I last blogged. I apologize for
the delay! I’ve honestly been swamped with work: writing, sketching out the
cover , writing, attempting to keep up with school, writing, studying, writing,
and did I mention writing? Yeah, I’ve been trying to keep up with the writing
as much as I can and in between that, a month slipped by already and I forgot
to blog! Well, here is the new blog.
First order of business to discuss:
Fair Feathered is coming along at a…slow pace. I wish I
would be able to write until my fingers fell off but unfortunately I also have
to do this thing called sleep. If there was a magical way to avoiding sleeping,
I would have so much more done! Not to mention if there were more hours in a
day then my work would be considerably more on track to be out and ready for
you all to read and enjoy! So I have been fighting sleep and mostly avoiding
homework to try and sit and write. Fair Feathered is going to be a beastly
sized book and it hasn’t even gotten to the revision stage yet. I’ve definitely
got a ways to go.
Besides the pace of Fair Feathered being written, I think
I’ve mentioned before that it’s going to be e-p-i-c. I have so much planned for
this book. Now just writing it all out in the proper manner is all I need to do
now. I’m almost tempted to release a little spoiler for you all but I think I
may save that for later. I can already hear the disappointed sighs and grumbles
but I will get one out to you all in due time. It would be awesome if I could
sit here and chat about it like it’s the greatest thing ever but my lips are
completely sealed. Not a single soul knows about the drama that is unfolding on
my papers! Speaking of papers, my desk is littered with notes and ideas I’ve
scratched down. Wouldn’t you all like to be the fly on my wall right now?
On top of my already busy schedule of lacking sleep for the
sake of writing, I’ve gotten back to some of my musical roots as well and have
been writing songs lately. Don’t worry, I am not leaving my post as a writer for the music career, believe me,
the only job for me is writing books. But if I just happened to turn into a
rock star that would be pretty awesome as well. Also, don’t think about trying
to look me up on YouTube. My songs are not on there. Sorry to disappoint anyone
but I don’t record my music. I just play and sing it for myself and close
friends and family. Although, I do find myself wishing I had an entire symphony
to sing with and write my lyrics to. I love the sound of epic music and symphonies
are gorgeous. I play a couple string instruments and the piano so I definitely
know how beautiful they are. I adore music in case you didn’t already know
that. I’ve been playing music since I was nine. You could probably tell how the
taste for music has leaked onto the pages of my novels.
Since we’re kind of on the topic of art, has anyone seen the
preview for the movie Snow White and the Huntsman starring Charlize Theron,
Kristen Stewart, and Chris Hemsworth? I just think that movie looks so awesome!
Maybe it’s just me but I love myself some dark twisted fairytales. Disney never
quite did it for me with all the happy and frolicking-through-the-flowers
endings. The Grimm Fairytales, the original versions before Disney came in and
made them happy stories, are the stories I enjoyed. This movie looks like it’s
going to be the one based on the Grimm version of Snow White. I’m excited for
it! Just thought I would share my excitement with you all who are reading this.
Oh! Before I forget, I think in another blog I mentioned another
project I was working on. I know that one has been under wraps as well and I would
love to share the title of it with you…but I’m leaving you in suspense just a
little bit longer. The title is on the fence between two different names and I
have to consult my inner circle of trust (aka Adrienne) and we’ll decide what
would be most fitting for the storyline. I am so excited about this one! I hope
that once I have more of a handle on Fair Feathered, this other series can be
worked on some more. Hopefully I can launch that series soon but soon to me is
probably in the winter. I know the readers are like “What? I have to wait six
months for the next book?” and for me as the writer I’m like “What! I only have
six months to get a book out?!” Six months in an author’s world is frightening.
There is so much to be done in such a short amount of time. Especially since I
am a perfectionist and I re-write everything until it is perfect and then I have
to send it to my editor and on top of that I have to work on a cover and then
complete all the final details…it’s a lot of work. Believe me.
I hope everyone enjoyed this long rambling blog about what’s
been happening my life lately. I figured you all deserved a long blog
considering I hadn’t blogged in awhile. Just keep hanging in there as I write
and soon enough Fair Feathered will be out for your enjoyment! Where ever you
may be, I hope the sun is shining and you are having a great day!
Until next time, Paulina
